New Player Information
Who can join?
Stormglow Battlegame is a fully inclusive community group and accepts anyone aged 15 and above into the fold. If you are aged 15-17 you require the consent of a parent or guardian and for your parent or guardian to sign you in on battle nights.
What do I need to play?
We have weapons available for hire and you don’t need any fancy armour to play, so beginners only need to bring;
Comfortable and loose fitting clothing, e.g. a large t-shirt (like a tunic) and track pants, or medieval/fantasy costume if you have it
Comfortable shoes (the more medieval looking the better, but plain runners are fine for your first game)
A belt you can tuck your weapon into
If you wear glasses and have contact lenses we recommend wearing those
Thick gloves, e.g. leather welding gloves (optional)
A sports box/cup (a must for the safety conscious gent)
A sense of humour and desire for battle!
Does it cost anything?
A players first night is free and subsequent nights are $5 to play. Weapons can also be hired for $2 for the evening and new players receive a quick calibration and instruction from Peter Walle, one of Stormglow's Managing Directors and a weapons master with more than 20 years of weapons experience.
Where do I go and what time?
During the warmer months Battle Nights are held at Hovell Tree Park, Wodonga Pl, South Albury NSW 2640.
During the cooler months Battle Nights are held at Albury Showgrounds Horse Pavilion, access via Fallon St, North Albury, NSW, 2640.
Our sign in desk is open from 5pm until 5:45pm for battle to begin at 6pm. We aim to finish at approximately 8pm. Be sure to check our Battle Nights page for a full breakdown on times.
Can I get more training?
Yes! Stormglow Battlegame holds a free training session at Hovell Tree Park every second Sunday for all of our members to participate in.
We hold a relaxed training session all year round from 1pm until 3pm where players can learn new weapon skills and be certified as safe by the relevant trainer. Check out our events page for the next scheduled training day.
